Wills
Writing a will can be a very sensitive and sometimes upsetting issue. Often emotions are running high, and because of our experience we know that many people often do not research the facts about leaving their estate and are unaware of the consequences of certain legalities.
Our will writing service will remove the burden and stress of these matters from you. We are able to offer our service to you regardless of where you live in the United Kingdom.
Writing a will offers protection for your family and ensures that the division of your assets is done according to your wishes and not left to the state. If left to the state, there is no guarantee that your family will receive anything that you wish to leave to them and there will be no say as to who looks after any children that may be involved. This means that children may be split up or placed with strangers. Estranged partners may also inherit assets against your wishes, if there has been no divorce.
To avoid these and other potential problems, why not give us a call on 01525 383770 or email us at info@gaskinssolicitors.co.uk
Probate/Letters of Administration
The very last thing that one needs when they have been bereaved is to be confronted by complex legal problems in obtaining either a Grant of Probate (where there is a Will) or Grant of Letters of Administration (where there is no Will – an intestacy). Unfortunately the English system of law in this area is difficult to follow, and our service is designed, so far as is possible, to make the process of obtaining a Grant for you easier.
There are 3 stages to dealing with an estate:
Finding out exactly what is in the estate
Obtaining the relevant Grant
Distributing the estate in accordance with the Will or the law.
The overwhelming majority of people can quite easily undertake stages one and three but have difficulty with stage two. This is where we believe we can help you. On all estates which are below the Inheritance Tax threshold or less than one million pounds where only the wife or husband inherits, for a fixed fee of £300 plus VAT and Court fees etc we will obtain the Grant leaving you to deal with stages one and three. The total fee inclusive of all out of pocket expenses amounts to £425.50 and is fixed for U.K. matters. The Inheritance Tax threshold for 2006/7 is £285,000, for 2007/8 is £300,000 and will rise £312,000 in 2008-9 and to £325,000 in 2009-10.
